Applied Movement Anatomy
Be Moved’s Applied Movement Anatomy workshop is an essential exploration of the fundamental musculoskeletal anatomy that fosters human movement. Now available in an entirely virtual format, this 13-hour course is a must for movement instructors and enthusiasts who want to understand how the theoretical understanding of movement can be applied to and enrich movement experience in real life. We will identify and study the joints and tissues responsible for global movement by bringing awareness to relevant structures, muscles, and relationships in our own bodies, as well as give functional context to how these actions apply to a range of movements across a variety of fitness and movement disciplines.
In addition to identifying structures and relationships in your own body, you will learn fundamental joint actions, and put all this knowledge to work in a functional context. We apply this information to developing visual assessment skills, identifying common misalignments, and will unpack a wide array general implications to build an arsenal of productive exercise modifications. You will examine some of the structures involved in respiration and learn how this anatomy can facilitate (or derail) functional breathing patterns in exercise. You will also come to a definitive understanding of the industry’s most ubiquitous yet misunderstood term: The Core.
This workshop is required for participants in Be Moved’s signature Barre Teacher Training course, but is an indispensable primer for movement instructors and enthusiasts of any modality.
